One way is by eating foods that have a low glycemic index. The glycemic index of a food, specifically of a carbohydrate, refers to the effect eating the food has on your blood glucose levels. By eating foods that have a low glycemic index level, you can keep your blood glucose and insulin levels low. This will help you to lose weight while still eating many foods that you love. It will also reduce your risk for having heart disease or diabetes. These foods will make you feel satisfied for a longer period of time and not cause your blood sugar level to drop to a dangerous level.

You can lose a large amount of weight fairly quickly by choosing foods that are in the low to medium range of the glycemic index scale. If you need to lose forty to fifty pounds or more, this can be the best way to drop those extra pounds while becoming healthier at the same time.
Fruit juices tend to be in the low range, as long as they do not contain added sugar. Whole grain and pita bread is also safe to eat, and are better choices than white bread or rolls. Oatmeal and shredded wheat cereals are also in the medium range. With rice, choose brown rice over white, and with pasta, choose whole wheat spaghetti and ravioli over macaroni and cheese or brown rice pasta. Sweet potatoes and yams are also lower on the scale than white potatoes.

Even though calories still count, eat foods with a low glycemic level and you will be amazed at how quickly you drop the weight and feel better than you have in years. It is also a good idea to cleanse your body of toxins before beginning any new diet.
